Me too. I waited almost 2 years after it came out to play Metal Gear Solid 3 and I STILL Don't have a cell phone. I believe such a ridiculous price for a machine is what killed the NEO-GEO.
Also, I would never pay that kind of green for anything I can't stick my dick in. Preferably more than once.
What this means is that they will be going online for 10 Hondos easy.
If I was a cop, I would raid Best Buy the night before it goes on sale, take all of them, sell them online, pocket the money, then arrest the people who bought them for receiving stolen property. I get mucho $$$$ and probably a promotion for busting a large # of crooks. TAKE THAT CRIME!
What these guys said... dittos. They're still supporting the PS2 with big games even into this holiday season, with God of War 2 and Final Fantasy XII both coming in Q4 2006. So yeah, I'm in no hurry. The taunts of an X-Box loyalist are all for naught!
Bah, I'm not an Xbox loyalist, but a bargain loyalist like yourselves. (I paid nothing for my XBOX V1) The next console I buy will probably be the WEEEEEEEEEE!
Unless Nintendo offers their backlog of old games at $1 or less, I'm going to be wee-less and wait the aforementioned few years to pick up a PS3 since they will probably continue to dominate the category of having good games.
And Kevin hit it right on the nose about the PS2 cycle still being in full effect ... God of War 2, come to me!!!
Well, all the hot games for this Christmas are going to be released on both Ps2 and Ps3 Platforms. After that, the Ps2 dropoff will begin. And then my friends, the age of $10 games will begin.
This actually gets me wondering if it would be profitable to continue to produce games for older systems.
If the PS2 manages to drop below $100, I might buy it, just to be able to buy all the great $10 games. If I have envied one thing about the PS2, it's that I think the games are MUCH cheaper than X-Box, and especially Gamecube.
I can't wait to see how Nintendo's Weeeeeee will handle the Virtual Console feature, with potentially every game in the catalog of Nintendo and Sega available for emulation. Dau! TUSK!!
I'm not really excited about the whole virtual console - ESPECIALLY when it comes to having to buy it. I think it would be a good idea for Nintendo to just include all the games with the purchase of their online service (a la Xbox Live). Why? Because I can download the damn things for free and emulate it off my computer if I want. I could even take a junk computer, slap Windows Media Center Edition on it, make it my DVR, and play the games off that. So the emulation is nothing special. In order for Nintendo to make a dent in the market with Wii, they will need to 1. Max the hell out of that motion controller by developing tons of games that take advantage of it. and 2. Prove to the disgruntled GC owners that they won't screw them over again by not securing enough 3rd parties to make a large, quality selection of games.
The real question will be, since it's shipping with Blu-Ray HD technology, what will the standard HD DVD format ened up being?
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for that before I even think of buying the PS3 or Xbox360. I'm good to wait a few years, like I did with the PS2.
