As Josh asked for related information and as Kevin got a sneek peek at recently, I'm planning to put together a section at The Sobering Conclusion that will give everyone the answers to what films and filmmakers grab my attention and respect.
I have only put up a few things right now (films, 80's films, comedies & directors) but I plan on adding my favorite Horrible but Fun films, actors, actresses, and rising stars/best of the new generation.
If you have any special requests, let me know and maybe I'll add it to my plans. I hope you guys enjoy the look behind my inner cinematic curtain.
The links to the new pages are on the left in the sidebar.

Best Quotes
Best Love Scene on the Flntstones.
Looking good, Hank. We'd need a whole separate blog for "Best Quotes", though... hmmm...
ReplyDeleteI already plan on doing actors and actresses, and have a list for each but want to put down a little commentary which is slowing that down.
ReplyDeleteThe Best Quotes is a great idea.
As for Best Love Scene in the Flintstones, that would probably be whenever the audience members resort to masturbation to have a good time watching the film.
And FYI, I just posted the "Final Destination 3" review ... which is nice.
Also, a friend of mine here brought up a good idea. So I'll float it to you all.
ReplyDeleteThere are times when I either can't or won't see a movie. That doesn't mean I should deprive people of knowing about those films though.
So I was thinking of allowing the rest of the posse and perhaps one of my friends out here by the beach to write up a review now and then.
They would get credit for it and just have to run it through me. i want to keep the same level of quality I'd like to think I'm putting out, so just posting "San Dimas High School Football Rules" is not enough for the upcoming "A Scanner Darkly".
Any thoughts? Suggestions?
Guest reviews are cool, but I think PowerSurge has the corner on the 'I haven't seen thim movie, but I WILL review it' market. ;)
ReplyDeleteTrue that. Doubletrue!
ReplyDeleteWell, the "Initial Reaction" essays are a different (and necessary) type of review. Perfect for this board. You could also do a "Bottom Shelf Video Review" type thing, where any number/combination of us watch and rank entries into the much-loved "bad horror/kung-fu" genres.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you watched "BloodRayne" and "Dukes of Hazzard"; what movies WON'T you see??
Well, you have a point there. Actually the one genre I don't watch anymore is real horror films, like Hostel, Saw, The Ring, etc.
ReplyDeleteSo really, it would just be a horror reviewer.
I like the idea of a Bottom Shelf Video Review. Joblo.com already has that section though so either a new name or idea ... something to ponder.
Also, like with Deuce Bigalow 2, sometimes I just can't find the time. So if there's a film anyone really wants to crack, let me know. Even if I do a review as well, it'll be like point-counterpoint ... which could be very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you're the only person here who just "couldn't find time" to see DB2.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but I really mean it. :)
ReplyDeleteI look at movies like DB2 and the Larry the Cable Guy movie and wonder: "Why can't they just hand me the money if they want to throw it away?"
ReplyDeleteOh, speaking of throwing away money, avoid 'Date Movie'. Not so good. If you want the best of the parody genre (in the modern era(outside of Airplane!, Hot Shots, etc.), just buy 'Not Another Teen Movie'.
Ken, if you want to write up a review on "Date Movie", feel free to e-mail it to me. I really don't want to see that one ... I HATE the "Scary Movie" franchise and from everything I can gather, this movie is just awful.
ReplyDeleteAt least with "Not Another Teen Movie", I managed a laugh or two.
YEAH! Stay away from INITIAL REACTION. I haven't done one in awhile, since that 50 cent movie. I'll have to fix that. And can we do something about the MUMMY JOSH picture?
ReplyDeleteKen, you saw "Date Movie"? Why can't you just hand me the money if you want to throw it away? :)
ReplyDeleteThough this movie does seem to be good for one thing - it's getting universally panned on IMBD, and it's funny to go through the comments and see one-star review after one-star review. Here are the headings of the first ten, exactly as they appear on the site:
- A Complete Waste Of Time
- Easily the worst parody I've ever seen.
- Absolutely terrible
- the worst movie ever written
- 2 of 6 writers of Scary Movie series?
- Maybe they needed the other 4 Scary Movie writers
- worst movie ever?
- Pretty awful...
- Not funny
- Crap
That sounds like a review to me ... if I can get my act together (since I'm back doing the two job thing) this will go up on the site for "date movie".
ReplyDeletePlease, PLEASE don't waste your time on Date Movie. I was HOPING it would be one of those movies where you go in with REALLY LOW expectations and it ends up being funny....nope. You go in with REALLY LOW expectations and you come out thinking "wow, that movie was everything I thought it would be, and less". The movie seriously makes the Scary Movie franchise look like the Godfather Trilogy of comedy.
