Apparently, for some years now, there has been an attempt to bring back "Police Academy". The idea is to reunite as many of the original actors (David Graf who played Tackleberry has passed on to that great shooting range in the sky) as possible.
On the IMDb Police Academy 8 boards, there was some debate as to whether this was a finale or a way to say goodbye to the old cast as they passed the beat down stick to a new group of rebellious do-gooders.
However, according to http://www.moviehole.net/news/6223.html, it looks like the producer of the series hopes to kickstart a new set of crime fighting hilarity.
Well, I'm mixed on this one. I bought the PA boxed set and the idea that there will be another film that doesn't fit in the box rankles my feathers somewhat. But hey, if Mahoney is back, so am I!

Well, if the idea of them passing the torch is true, then just wait a decade or two for the "Next Generation" box set, with films 8-14.
ReplyDeleteThat's essentially my reaction as well. See why we need to burn that place down? (Dear U.S. Government, this is a joke. please do not send me to gitmo.)
ReplyDeleteI like the comment "How about a ROOTS remake with all white people?"
ReplyDeleteCedric has grown too big for his britches, and his agents need to tell him to stop. First the Odd Couple, now Rodney Dangerfield. Pretty soon, Cedric will star as Moses in the Mel Gibson remake of the 10 Commandments.
Don't forget the colossal flop remake of 'The Honeymooners'.
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't want to know anyone who will actually spend money watching this remake in any form: theatre, DVD, or even on BET at 3am.
SWITCH 360 KICKFLIP OFF THE PRUDENTIAL 7?
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, I remember you telling me that story during sophmore move-in day. A long time ago. "SKATE OR DIE, DUDE!"
Oh, also, just how mind numbingly bored must one be to enter the words "police academy" into the IMDB search? :D
ReplyDeleteNot that I'm complaining...It just makes me wonder if there are sequels to the timeless classic "Moving Violations" or the epic "Summer School"
Funny you should mention it ... "Summer School" is being remade ... just kidding. There is a film called "Summer School" in production but it's not a remake. Just has the same title.
ReplyDeleteAnd not to make an excuse, but I checked out the Police Academy thing because of an article at JoBlo.com that mentioned an update to the saga. I then checked it out at IMDb.
Also, I'm a tool.
You WILL eat the cat-poop!
