Allen Coage, best known for his WWF stint as Bad News Brown, passed away today at the age of 63. He was rushed to Rockyview Hospital in Calgary this morning for chest pains and died shortly after.
All I remember is this guy's finishing move was a 2ble Leg Enziguri which he christened "The Ghetto Blaster." The move was then stolen by Fighter Hyabusa in Nintendo Pro Wrestling for the 8-Bit NES and renamed the slightly less glamorous "Back Brain Kick". Looking at his entry on wikipedia, it is interesting to note that he scored a bronze medal in Olympic Judo.
Well, keep in mind he couldn't make use of the Ghetto Blaster in the Olympics. Of course, that was in the Frenchest of North American Cities, Montreal.
Did he even make it to the 5 minute mar? He seemed like he was going to break kayfabe any minute. :) Really the only thing preventing it from being a great interview is if Arsenio really made him just bust out laughing. Kind of like the way Conan does it to Mr. T.
WOO WOO WOO WOO WOO WOO WOO WOO WOO!
ReplyDeleteAh, back when wrestlers would actually stay in character for the mainstream media.....and be horrbly racist while doing so. :)
ReplyDelete"don't they have chairs in Harlem brother?!?"

ReplyDeleteHe was robbed in the Olympics! It was a clear case of keeping the black man down!
ReplyDeleteBNB should have given Arsenio the Ghetto Blaster!

ReplyDeleteWow, I don't remember this airing at all... BNB looks like he's going to start laughing at the five-minute mark.
