Super Bowl XLI

While I'm sorry your Bears lost, at least it was a pretty good game and since you're in the NFC, the likelihood of coming back in the next few years is high. And at least now we won't have to hear how Manning can't win the big game anymore.

More important than the game however are the commercials. Instead of discussing plays and turnovers, what was everyone's favorite commercial? Mine was the Emerald Nuts "low blood sugar" commercial where Robert Goulet comes and fucks with your office while you're passed out.

Good stuff.

  1. While the Bears didn't play well for the most part, I have to hand it to Peyton Manning for having the stamina to play an entire championship football game after being fellated for hours without reprieve by the entire CBS studio. Hell, between Dan Marino's goofy-ass interview (I'm pretty sure said the "Colts and DOLPHINS kickoff is coming up soon" during the pre-game) and the vignettes that basically had the trophy already on display at Manning's house, I'm surprised he actually walked off the field and didn't ascend to heaven in a chariot of fire like CBS so, so wanted.

And who gives a fuck what Archie Manning has to say?? He played for the pretty much worst team in NFL history for like 200 years and never got anywhere near a championship, and yet here he is on television as if he's even marginally relevant to the game. He sure as hell better have hoped that the Colts won Super Bowl XLI since the Giants are just about ready to implode any day now. Yeah, the Chargers, they suck... they would have been a terrible team to play for. Never mind that they probably would have run over the Colts if it was San Diego vs. Indianapolis.

Well, whatever. I'm still going to buy a Devin Hester jersey. Though I wish I would have done it when I first got the idea in December, since the price just went up $50 after the first twelve seconds of Sunday's game.

  2. NO! Not Hester's Jersey! Beware the NUMBER 23!

Anyway, I concur with Ian. I liked the EMERALD NUTS commercial so much, I even remembered it was for Emerald Nuts. I think it was relevant because I always want to fall asleep at my desk at 2PM. Also good: the Axe wielding Hitchhiker Commercial. That was for Some Beer. I don't know why you need to spend so much advertising beer. I mean...It's beer! It sells itself!

Also, there is an interesting poll asking if Rex Grossman should still be our QB. I begrudgingly say yes, simply because of the recent history of Jokers we've had parade through town. BUT Lovie Smith should open up the QB position to all competitors. If Rex is REALLY the best QB, he'll win the job. I don't think Griese is the second coming or anything, but I believe he wouldn't play like he was terrified all the time.

  3. In some ways I think this is revenge for all those times MJ and Pippen stopped Reggie Miller from winning an NBA Title.

But don't worry. We'll forget all about this loss in October, when the CUBS are in the WORLD SERIES! And since Indianapolis doesn't have a MLB team, looks like they'll just have to cry in their cornflakes!

    Yeah, I said it.

  4. I give Indy alot of credit. We lost, but they beat the hell out of us. Manning is the real deal and he was able to pick us apart. What I appreciate most about the Colts is that they weren't a bunch of punks celebrating during the game or talking crap after the game or anything like that. They came in, played really hard, and earned the trophy.

Having said that, it was hilarious to see their celebration were it looked like maybe 100 people showed up in downtown Indy to celebrate. :D

As far as CBS and Archie go, I concur with Kevin.

We were all unanimous in our love for the Robert Goulet commercial. I especially liked the end when he's up on the ceiling.

As for the Bears, the good news is that I don't think they'll flop next year like most Chicago teams do when they touch greatness. You have to figure that with the return of Harris and Brown, the maturation of Grossman, the addition of new blood (including a few draft picks that got injured before the season started) via Jerry Angelo's wonderdrafts, we'll be all good.

Peyton Manning is a great QB and he played us like a fiddle. On the bright side, we didn't lose to a prick like Tom Brady, who wouldn't pass up the opportunity to shove it in our face and flash his gayboy smile like he's the sh1t.

Anyways, I heard Hester dedicated his run back to his favorite player of all time....Duane Bickett!!! THAT FAGGOT!

  5. I notice noone has mentioned the "Coca Cola Black History Month timeline" commercial. Your white guilt compels you to vote for it and Barack Obama as the best!

  6. I half agree with that comment.

  7. Emerald Nuts (possible new screen name?) definitely had the best commercial... a close second was the one for (I think) Ford, where the assembly robot has the dream where he messes up on the line and gets fired, then drifts from job to job and finally commits suicide by jumping off a bridge. Right before he hits the water he wakes up after-hours in the factory... then something like "everyone here's obsessed with quality."

  8. I think the Bears will be back next year... they've got a good team and the rest of the NFC isn't going to be much better than it was this year. They'll have a tougher schedule which includes better AFC teams, but 10-6 or 9-7 will still get them in the playoffs.

Couldn't care less about the Cubs. Instead I'm going to spend the off-season researching my 2007 All-Kicker Team!!

  9. I have a feeling that if the guy from the 'One' video were named Rex Grossman, Lovie would start him anyway, just because he is a stubborn ass. Sign DEMON HARD Damon Huard right now.

  10. The thing that is so frustrating about this is that the Championship Window is only open so long. And while the rest of the team is A+, we have a C- QB (at best). Go get a B/B+ QB Anywhere! It was Vince Young's first full year in the league too. At least he knows he can run with it!
