Unfortunately, they have yet to post a picture of this guy, but I'll add it when it comes in.
What the video DOESN'T show, is the truly brilliant moment of this character's debut.
To sum up, this guy in white pale makup and brown dust all over him(that gets beaten out of him later) comes out in a torn flannel and jeans, and sloooooooowly walks zombie-style towards the ring. Eventually, after slooooooowly walking around the ring with his arms still zombie style in front of him...he grabs....THE MIC! He grabs the MIC and cuts the greatest promo in the last couple years at least. His promo? Well, to quote: "UHHHHHH.......UHHHHHHHH! UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!...UHHHHH!...UHHHHHHHHHHH!" He seriously did this for a couple minutes, until finally interrupted by Sandman's promo.
It was the first genuine laugh wrestling has gotten out of me in a long time, and I am sure we can only owe it to Paul Heyman for doing the booking on this one. Totally tounge-in-cheek and an homage to Wrestlecrap stars of the past. I can only HOPE that the Zombie becomes a regular wrestler, because if he does, I think he will blow up much like SOAP.

ReplyDeleteIt's on Sci-Fi Tuesdays at 9pm. Be warned though - the rest of the show was so-so. But if the Zombie makes another appearance, it's all good.

ReplyDeleteOkay, I watched the YouTube video, and I have to say Ken's description was funnier than the real thing. I pictured him sort of groaning out the "uhhhhhh" parts, instead of sounding like a bad death metal singer. Plus the announcers should have shut up during the promo... it would have been better if they just kind of sat silent, not knowing what to say. Tazz: "I was IN ECW, and I ain't never seen no zombie before!!"
ReplyDeleteBut at least now, Ken finally has a name he can stick with for a while. And maybe a Halloween costume for this year! Does anyone have pictures of him that year he dressed up as Gangrel at Purdue?? That was great.
Yeah, Ken's description was better than the result. But still, pretty damn funny.
ReplyDeleteSee, the difference is that I saw it happening live, you guys saw my portrayal first, which hyped it up. Trust me, it was much funnier just being there the first time it happened -with no warning whatsoever. Plus the fact that I was drinking at the time helped too. :D
ReplyDeleteStill - the fact that they had the Zombie cut a promo was totally classic - and his promo was 100x better than most of the promos that the female 'personalities' on WWE shows do.
It could have been even MORE amusing if the Zombie cut a promo like any of the other divas. Plus it would have provided him with an excuse to get beat up. "UHHHHHH.....I pull off my pants now......UHHHHHHH"
