Another Fallen Wrestler

16 March 2009 6:35 PM, PDT

U.S. wrestler Andrew Martin has been found dead at his Tampa, Florida home.

The 33-year-old tough guy, who fought under the name Test in the World Wrestling Entertainment spectaculars, was pronounced dead on Friday night.

The cause of death has not been released, but local authorities have ruled out foul play.

A neighbour alerted police after seeing Martin lying motionless on the floor of his apartment through a window.

Martin had past problems with substance abuse - at one point WWE officials paid for a rehab stint, even though the wrestler was not part of the organisation at the time.

He was arrested on a drink driving charge in 2008.

The Canadian dated wrestler-turned-reality TV star Stacy Kiebler.

  1. Life FAIL.

On a side note, man does the WWE suck. Out of curiosity I recently looked at the current roster. It could honestly rival the early 90's WCW roster for how much it sucks. I think we experienced the two great wrestling era's - 80's Hogan and 90's Attitude. Since then, it's just been 00's Milk the old guys that can't do anything else and bring in new guy after new guy who can't pick up the reigns. Undertaker is the only guy I exclude from this, of course. :D

  2. The question is ... at this year's Wrestlemania ... will The Undertaker's streak of undefeatedness at the big event come to an end? Or will it be Shawn Michael's undefeated streak of solo matches against the champion of the dark?

And will any of us watch?

  4. I've caught a few minutes of RAW here and there, and it does look eerily like 2003... Taker, HBK, HHH, Edge, Batista, John Cena, Randy Orton. Jericho is back, too. What's odd is that I like all those characters, and they should be enough to get me to watch. Think about guys like UT and Michaels - they're legends, and who knows how much longer you'll be able to watch a match featuring either of them. Or Edge, back when he was doing Triangle Ladder Matches with the Hardys and the Dudleys. You knew he was going to be a main eventer one day, but now that he is I still don't feel compelled to tune in for some reason.

I really think what killed the WWF (get the F in) for me was when they split the roster into two separate shows... it's just never been the same since they did that. When you can only draw from half as many wrestlers to set up angles for each show, more feuds and ideas get recycled... coupled with the fact that there are at least 12 PPVs a year (I think they're up to like 14 now), and it just got to be too much, and too much of the same.

I doubt they'll ever go back to just the big 5 PPVs, but I'd even be OK with them keeping one per month if they just put the damn shows back together.
